Session 2 - Tour the ASANT Cafe
Part 1 - What is the ASANT Cafe?
First Link ®
First Link is an early intervention service that connects people affected by Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias with services and support as soon as possible after diagnosis. Formal referral from physicians and health professionals allows for proactive contact with individuals and their families.
The ASANT Cafe has been designed to extend the reach of First Link by providing online access to information, education and support provided by the Alzheimer Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories.
Albertans can access the ASANT Cafe 24 hours a day, 365 days a year irrespective of their physical location as long as they have internet access.
Launched in Spring of 2014 the ASANT Cafe is intended to ensure that those Albertans who are unable to access the information, education and support offered at the offices of the Alzheimer Society because of physical location or personal circumstances are for the first time able to do so online!
Who is it for?
Designed primarily for people living with dementia, their care partners and families we believe the ASANT Cafe is one of the first websites in the world which has been designed specifically with the needs of a person living with dementia in mind.
The View Model
ASANT Cafe benefits from two distinct view models; essentially it looks different for the person living with dementia so that they are better supported in navigating around the site.
All of the information, education and support offered via the search function in the ASANT Cafe is selected according to its relevance to the member. The community itself also provides 'feedback' on the relevance of information, education and support provided to support the seach in becoming even smarter!
