Another great one for my wife was the puzzles you buy at a dollar store that are on a cardboard backing. They have about 20 large pieces and they are not complicated. When we finished one particular puzzle that we 'both' worked on we would then find the grl with the blonde hair, or red hair or blue dress or crown. OK they were complicated for me LOL!.
The facility that she was in , in Red Deer, had dances and music. She just loved to stand there and move around a little because we were 'dancing'. It can also be done to the radio or a CD player.
I tried also to get her outside the locked facility in the fresh air every day we could. In the spring we had a flower box planted in the courtyard we did and maintained it and the other beds when weeding needed to be done.
There was a dresser with hats, scarves, dresses, cheap jewelley, etc.in the hallway. I was not adverse to dressing both us up and going for a stroll to see the other residents. Everyone loved that!
Someone in our support group made an awesome gift for her husband who had been mechanical. She got a piece of plywood about 1 to 2 feet square. On it she attached various items he could unscrew such as a few pieces of plumbing, a corner clamp for a picture frame, or some large bolts and nuts. What a great idea that was! Use your imagination.
Colouring books designed for a younger child were also fun to do. You can also take a deck of cards and spread them out. Find a black 2 or a red 8.
I found the things we did were also fun for me.
