Hi, my mom has middle stage dementia. She is still living in her own home but is only able because our family gives her lots of going support. We make all her meals, do laundry, pay bills, clean her house, arrange activities, take her to appts etc.
My question deals with she is starting to forget to shower everyday. It's not a problem to be there on the weekend as I work to ensure she has a shower -I can be there in the morning as that is when she would shower normally. Would just like to help her be as independant for as long as we can. I'd like to put up a list of personal hygene instructions to her bathroom as a queue to help her remember. Instead of just wriiting a list such as
Every morning:
Shower, wash body and hair
Brush teeth
Get dressed
Put on make up and do hair.
Has anyone thought of more creative ways or have any other ideas. Mom still is aware of what is going on and I feel like I'm treating her like a child and not being respectful posting these instruction. She'd say "What? Don't I do these things? Why are you treating me like a child?
She isn't receptive to having homecare assist her with a bath at all.
Thank you,
